Air Con
Hi,
Im thinking of removing the A/C from my 92 Impreza (import). To release some power. Has anyone else on here done this & if so, is it a pritty straight foward job? Whats all involved etc?
Cheers Keith

you wont notice that much difference unless you're driving around with it on all the time, try taking the drive belt off first and see if it makes a huge difference, after that it's just the added weight, 10kg maybe off the top of my head
the pump and condensor are the easy bits to take off, after that it gets a little more tricky when you need to go under the dash

Ok thanks for the advice. I need a new heater matrix still, canne seem to find one at a decent price, so while Im getting all that sorted I might take it off then, I dont even use it anyway on hot days etc.
Leave it all in the car as when you come to sell it you will should get a better price (re fitting or retro-fitting A/C can be very expensive).....you do not need to disconnect the fan belt because the compressor is driven by an electro-magnetic clutch. If you want to disconnect something so the air-con cannot come on then just unplug the electrical connector to the compressor.
