Question Legacy GTB Auto Gearbox ECU

Hi there one and all

I have a mate who has just had his GTB gearbox repaired and reworked.

The other day only a few days after getting it back his gearbox ECU has gone into SAFE mode and doing all sorts of silly things.

We have done the obvious by removing the battery for 24 hours but no difference.

Sorry to be so vague with the details, but we are hoping that someone may have had similar experiences or have any ideas.

Thanks a lot

Deane

I have similar problems with mine, the gearbox started slipping when you put the power down, now it wont change out of 1st.
It had a recon box a year ago(12000MILES), i took it to a auto specialist and he says its an electrical fault somewhere, the reversing lights have stopped working, but the dash lights say its in reverse.
I've tried another gearbox ecu and i'm about to try another.
I believe the problem will go away if the gearbox is rebuilt or changed, but will come back after an uncertain number of milesWhat sort of problems are you getting?

Hi there

Thanks for replying.
The main problem is that when going into any gear either from a change of from stanstill there is a massive thump as it goes into gear, the idle is at the right level.

The box has just been rebuilt after a different problem and has since been back for this one, no fault can be found. They have replaced the gearbox ECU with no effect. (loan).

There is also a definate whine coming from the dashboard after 2500 rpm, I am pretty sure that it is nothing to do with the turbos.

I have not checked the brake lights, but I will give them a go, but if the brakelights were not working then it would not go into gear as the gear release works off the same circuit.

Oh well, let me know your thoughts and I am sorry I have to real suggestions on your problem. Only to have a word with Craig up at Automatics, I will get you the number if you are interested.

Many thanks

Its the reversing lights that dont work on mine.
A whine noise i have been told is the clutches coming away and clogging the filter?
