What a gent!
My other halfs dad loves his cars, and has a standard response when you ask him if he has a favourite...." the next one ". One day, about two years ago, he pitched up at our house in an Alpina B10, which he'd purchased at no small expense a couple of days previous. Being in his sixties, and having just driven to the south coast from central london, you might reasonably expect him to want to have a sit down and a cuppa, but, no sooner is the luggage unloaded, he's suggesting we take off in search of some challenging roads. We end up out in the sticks, and after about 20 mins of thoroughly enjoying himself, he stops in a layby, gets out, and says " Right, your turn, see what you think ". I was dead keen, as it was obviously a quick car, and seemed superbly composed from the passenger seat. We took off along a road I know very well, and I became so absorbed in the car, I entirely forgot he was there. It took about half an hour of spirited driving to get back home, during which there wasn't a murmer of complaint from him! As well as his own, current car ( SL55AMG ), which he's also handed over for 'evaluation', he's now joined the P1 club, and I've been treated to some passenger rides in various types of exotica lately, ranging from Audi RS6 to 550 Maranello....next month is the Biggie though, Lambo Gallardo....can't wait.
What an excellent prospective father in law.....not sure about the mother in law though!

...if he had, I'd be trying to marry them, as well. :T4Molie, edited to say that I think he may have a few sheckles put aside, but he's dead generous, and he's worked for it. Reckon the front wing on the Merc's worth more than my scoob, but he lets me drive his stuff 'cos a) he knows I'll probably not get the chance to try these things any other way and b) he knows I'm as daft about cars as he is and likes to talk about the shared experience......really excellent attitude towards someone in my position in life, ie, skint most of the time!
