Default dash lights not working but fuse ok

As the title says. Is it the bulb perhaps, and how hard is it to check it?

Have had alarm and stereo fitted since I last saw them working which is a worry.

Cheers

Cheers, I 'll have alook for the dimmer switch but I don't think it's got one. the wires to the cigarette lighter had been tampered with so this could have been a cause. I don't know about other lights right this minute, will check later, although I know stereo is fine. It's a JDM 94 wagon WRX

lights for AC/heater also not on so that circiut must have blown. Is there a second fuse? My fuse box is japanese but I have checked all the fuses, espeacially the 10A one second down on the right.
Any ideas?

That sounds odd - there are some other fuses located under the dash steering wheel - you have to get your head under the steering wheel have a look at them.

When I popped mine I found the fuse in the interior fuse box.
