Who has driven both a P1 and EVO 6?
I made the big mistake of selling my MY99 a month ago. I am now considering an EVO 6 or P1. Has anyone here driven both cars and can you give constructive comments on both. I have driven several EVO's, but no Subaru dealer wil let me near a P1 for a test drive.
I know the EVO is ugly and sounds like a hairdrier - Scoobysport can solve the latter.

Hi Orville,
I was lucky enough to get back to back (well, in the same day) drives of an EVO 6, EVO 6 (with stage 1 conversion), and a P1 just
over a month ago.
The comparisons might not be that fair, as both EVOs were nicely loosened up (more than 7500 miles on each), but the P1 only had 22 miles on the clock.
Anyway, here goes.......
The standard EVO 6, and the P1 both felt very similar power wise. I think the EVO probably edged it, but we could put this down to the mileage difference.
On the road, the two couldn't be more different. In isolation, the EVO 6 is a fantastic car. It handles superbly, with virtually no understeer, even when being severely provoked. The only problem is the ride, which is very hard compared to the P1.
The P1 couldn't be more different, with a much more refined ride, seemingly achieved without compromising the handling. Understeer rears it's head once again, as with every other Impreza Turbo I've driven, but it's still great fun. Steering feel is not as good as the EVO, and I found that I was always looking for that extra feedback that the EVO provided.
Compared with either car, the EVO 6 with the stage 1 conversion is in a league of it's own. The guy at Ralliart tried to play down the difference between the standard EVO and the modified one, but to no avail. The car is just fantastic, the extra power being handled with ease. The whole package just flows together, and make you feel a complete hero. The last time I had a grin on my face this big, was after driving an Impreza Turbo for the first time (back in 1994).
If I was going to rate the cars, it would go something like this:
1) EVO 6 (Stage 1)
2) P1
3) EVO 6 (Standard)
In the end, I've gone for a P1 myself, as it's going to be a company car, and I need a car that is motorway friendly (as much as possible). The EVO 6 was just too harsh for me to live with on an everyday basis.
On the flip side, I would have gone for the EVO 6 (Stage 1), and to hell with the motorway, if only Mitsubishi would provide a warranty on the car. As it currently stands, they won't, so my lease company won't allow it.
Hope this helps,
Andy.

A mates dad (millionaire) recently bought his son a mitsubishi zero fighter which cost approx. £43 000. But dam does this thing fly. I was following it the other day and he just touched the acelerator a little and brummmmmmmmmmmm off he went. Fastest car i have ever seen in my live. Apparently his freinds won't ride with him for fear off being killed. He is already facing a ban for excessively speeding. 0-60 in 4.0 secs. If you got the money mate go for one of these, you won't be disappointed.
