Jim Clark Memorial Rally
Hi All,
Just wondering if anyone was up for the Jim Clark Rally at Duns last weekend? In particular by the service area on Saturday afternoon, as I spotted a few Scoobs which looked like they could be owned by frequenters here.

If you were at the service area then I think i saw you, or at least an RB5. I was marshalling, and for a while was directing the traffic. I'd be the one in the orange bib
I would disagree about tarmacs not being as exciting as off road stages, as I saw plenty of action (however some was off-road, not through the choice of the driver!
I saw a black Catalyuna too, anyone's here?

Anyone see the Toyota go up in flames? Pretty spectacular but you had to feel for the driver.
It makes you wonder how these guys finance their rally fun. How much do folk think it costs to run an Impreza in this class of rally? $$$$

I was there as a Stage Liaison Officer on SS5 Moon and Stars (Friday night) and SS13 and SS20 Eccles (Sat night/Sun morning) - dark blue Legacy RS
. Waved to a couple of Scoobs before I got bored being ignored again by people who think the only quick Scoob is an Impreza

Yeh I was there in my RB5. Tarmac stages are definitely not as exciting as off road stages! My pal chris was looking after one of the National class Scoobs, so I spent quite a bit of time up at Chirnside as well.

I was there (V555SUB)for the first time and while I enjoyed the Langton special "wet" stage my overall impression is that gravel stages are more fun in general than the tarmac - less predictable for the drivers. Gwyndaff was really motoring along the Eyemouth stage and there seemed to be quite a few cars limping in at the end of the stage with punctures.

I was there too, watched the F2 cars until I realised Brian Lyall was using a WRC Impreza for the Nationals on Saturday night.
I was told some of the prices for spares for the car, how about these:
Turbo - £12k
Driveshaft - £2k
18" alloy - £500
Oh, and a new 2000 WRC car - £330,000 with a minimum spares package of an extra £75,000. And that doesn't include the paddle gearbox, no-one outside Prodrive is allowed one of those.
I don't think a lottery win would be enough now!!
