Question Optimax or Octane booster???

At my Local "Screw You" sorry Shell garage ()I have seen the price of Optimax jump up from 74.9ppl to 86.9ppl

I didn't mind paying a few pence extra over unleaded to have the inconvenience of adding octane booster taken away but now I feel I am being extorted plain and simple.
My car is an UK MY03 WRX+PPP. Now if I switch to an octane booster and unleaded would I be better off financially?
I understand that one of the octane boosters available (I think it's NF but not sure) will give you about 6 tankfulls per bottle
More important though will the engine be OK? This one really matters

If octane booster is the way to go who and where is the best place to buy a case load from?

Any useful tips or advice would be a great help thank you in advance

yep, 86.9p here too (SE London).. Bit of a rip off!

As for affecting performance, changing from UL to Optimax made a massive difference on my MY93 Legacy Turbo, so I would imagine it would make a lot more on yours! Seemed to give better low-rev performance and pick up and generally a more linear power delivery.

When I bought my car from Wilsons it had UL and I went straight into Shell for Optimax and the difference between the two is enormous. That there is no doubt. What I am looking at is still getting the same octane levels or better by using O-B with unleaded.
The reason being is that I spend about £70-100 on optimax every week!
As Shell are spiralling the price ever skywards people like me are hit hard in the pocket and if it goes up much more I will be better off to the tune of about £5+ per tank. Now that adds up to a lot of £££s over the course of a year.
If I only used the car at weekends it wouldn't matter but mine is out every day. Hence why before I go the O-B route I wanted to do a bit of research first.

So far I have been told that NF Race formula is the best and most economical giving 6 tankfulls per bottle at £13 each. Any advance on this or any other brands??
