Question

A rather annoying large stone hit my RH front headlamp on the motorway the other day and managed to put a hole in it!

I have an STIV - does anyone know if the front lights are exactly the same as UK models and where would be a good place to get a replacement? I know GGR do them and i'm currently waiting for a price... Any suggestions?

Got mine from a breaker, out of the back of Exchange and Mart, about £100 as I recall

I can speak from personal experience on this one...

They are near enough identical by which I mean they are the same unit but they DON'T have electric level adjustment on the STi. A std UK item will work fine but if you get one, whatever you do don't try and remove the level adjuster to replace it with the non-electric STi one from your car. You'll probably break it and then have to send it back to where you got it, pretending that it was like that when you got it. Just like what happened to a "friend" of mine. Ahem. Put it in as is because you can still adjust it without the electric gubbins.

I got mine (err my friend got his) from CH White (I think it is) in Cirencester. Sorry, Can't remember the guy's name but I think I got their number from David Hendry Cars. They are a Subaru dealer but I just said I wanted a MY99 headlight and they were cool. Cost about £170.

Dave,

Now what have you done? Prehaps that is an unlucky car! Trade it in for a Trabant - cheaper

I do have some suggestions though - when you get your replacement light, get someone else to fit it! Also, plastic h/lamp protectors (c.£30) complete w/ Subaru logo - any dealer.

Red face

James - it wasn't me this time it was a stone (honest!)

Maybe i should trade it in? I usually trade cars in when i lose a race and i came pretty close the other day - Simons new RX7 kept with me neck&neck - oh no hold on that was in a straight line, i haven't taken him down to Sheepbridge Lane yet (my favourate lane in the whole wide world!)...

Regards the light tho' - thanks for suggestions guys and yes James i will get some headlamp protectors.
GGR can't seem to be bothered to reply to their email so i'll check out the above!

Dave - If you're having trouble finding a replacement, I have a pair of headlamps from my STi V (I have installed the Morette twin headlamp kit). I was going to keep the originals because I've heard so many people say they don't like the Morettes, so I thought I would keep them for when I came to sell the car (not that I'm thinking of selling it in the forseeable future, but you never know...).

Anyway, if the price is right, I might consider parting with them. As far as I remember they're unblemished (about 7000 miles before I changed them) ...

Regards
Jeremy

I'm sure you've heard it before, but if you had a little boy, he'd be Jeremy Clark's son!!
