Sorry to open this one up again, but i needthe definitive answer!

Honestly which is the best conversion to go for? PIAA or Cibie.

Also is it feasible to fit them yourself (IE without buying the kit from a dealer) or do I need to bite the bullet and shell out the cash??

Are they exactly the same size, and how bright are they?

Go for the Scoobysport fitting it's very simple to fit and you get a diagram of how to fit them. The cabling is cut to the correct length and where to fit all the bits. All done in about 1 hour. Just be carefull with the screws holding the fogs in.
The difference is Night and Day.

A short time ago I purchased a dual stage high and low beam driving light setup that the PIAA corp said would work as replacement driving lights for my US spec Impreza 2.5RS (same bumper as versionV). Well it turned out to not fit like it was supposed to. It stuck out way too far. I want to replace the lights in the bumper with some that can be used with the low beams or high. Is there another company to go to for help? Does HELLA, or some other company make a high/low beam that will work? I need something that can be used on a day to day basis and that won't risk burning out the wiring harness. The PIAA replacement bulbs don't really seem to make that big a difference. I am open to any suggestions. Oh and does any of the UK or Europe sites have a database to reference? It is hard to find tech info without having to post the question and wait for a reply.

 

The answer is that the PIAA lights give a longer narrower beam than the Scoobysport ones. For the driving I do (twisty unlit roads) the Scoobysport ones are better.

However, the difference is marginal and you shouldn't be disapointed with either.

Also there are clear plastic covers available for the Scoobysport lights as they are very vunerable to stones. I don't think PIAA do those !
