Unhappy Help MOT failed: Emissions are sky high

Just had the garage on the blower, my cars emissions are reading 2.6 things instead of 0.3 things. What can be causing this & how easy/cheap is it to fix.

Car is a 94 UK Legacy Turbo with no engine mods & a 2yo cat.

time for a lambda change maybe?????not costly :-)

Is there an easy way of testing the lambda sensor to see if it's fcuked?
