Thumbs up New member saying hello. Oh and a I have a slight problem.

Hi all

just joined.

I wonder if you knowledgeable ppl can help me.

I fitted a Forge dump Valve yesterday and ever since, after the accelerator is depressed and released. the engine dies and sometimes stalls.

I have checked all the pipes for splits or cracks, and can't see anything.

Anyone come across this problem ?

Your help would be much appreciated.

Oh by the way it is a 93 WRX Jp import.

regards

If it's a DTA dump valve, I've read that they can cause erratic idle.

Wink

Hi
It can be caused if you have an air leak, eg loose pipe on the dump valve or fittings not tight enough.

The cure is very simple. Take the Forge valve off and refit the standard one.

The problem you have is that the springing in the valve isn't strong enough and is allowing the valve to open at idle, starving the engine of air which results in the stall.

You could dick about with stiffer springs and shims to increase the spring pressure, but, to be blunt, the engine will run better with the standard valve, so put it back and chalk this up as a lesson learned.
