Question Bought a scoob at last! brake problem?

Hi all,

went to look at an n reg impreza sti v ltd today and ended up buying it (as u do!)

just one thing that worried me, the guy said it had abs all round which i' kind off assumed but on the test drive i miss judged the turning for the dealer some what (its a bit quicker than my saxo! ) and slammed on the brakes and it locked up very briefly.....? meant to speak to the guy about it but forgot, any ideas fellas?

the guy seemed very genuine and i'm sure he'd sort any possible problems as i havent given the full amount yet...

thanks in advance

wez

The best way to check if you have ABS is to look when you turn the key in the ignition, this should show the ABS light
As for feeling it locking up, well it will do, ABS just releases the brakes when it does lock up so you will feel it has done so.

Wez,

have alook under the bonnet, on the left hand chasis leg you will either have an ABS pump OR Intercooler water spray bottle...

Chances are you have the IC & No ABS, most V-Ltd models are like this.

Got some 4 pots as an upgrade, btw ABS is for girls anyway

if its got the DCCD (driver controlled centre diff) then it wont have ABS as they are incompatiable on a classic

ic makes a difference on a hot day, make sure you use de-ionised/distilled water in it though, tap water can make it go furry

JDM cars were designed to run on a MINIMUM of 100 RON octane rated fuel; Super Unleaded petrol is 97 RON. That's more than the difference between Premium Unleaded and Super Unleaded.....

is it a 2 door type R, or possible a type RA (does it have a roof hatch).

STi5s have 4 pots as standard iirc
