Hi,

6000 km, no track days (fast driving though), discs are gone!

I think I have the highly debated DS3000 pads... the brakes were simply awesome, but I would have traded a little performance for a longer duration (certainly more than 6 months...)!

So, the question is: are there alternative discs / pads for the Prodrive calipers? Where can I buy them?

Comments, please

Hi Ant. It does sound like the DS3000 problem. They are very harsh. Everyone who's changed to DS2000 pads appears to be very happy now. That has got to be the first thing to try.

For other pad/disc options, e-mail Mike Wood. mwood@prodrive.com I've heard Ferodo are testing a new DS2500 compound. No availability date yet.

You've got some awesome mountain roads in Portugal!

Question

Are the DS3000 pads the standard issue with the P1 upgrade kit ??

Thanks

James, they were but now DS2000 is standard, I think. You can probably have either.

Thanks Hoppy,

I've just sent an e-mail to Mike Wood.
Hope I can sort this out real soon, as confidence in the brakes is everything to me!

Seems like you've been playing in our roads... did you bring an Impreza from England??

Antonio, no Scoob sadly - we were in a Mitsubishi hire car, watching a few friends racing in the Karting World Championships at Braga.

Our villa was twenty miles away and the route didn't have a single piece of straight road at all. But the tarmac was very smooth and the local lads on bikes - R1s, Fireblades, etc - were having a fantastic time A bit scary wearing just T-shirts and shorts, vertical drops only a couple of feet away I can see why you need good brakes!

I live in East Anglia which is absolutely flat and most roads are straight so Portugal made a welcome change

Will do, jamesa

I just wish Mike Wood checked his e-mail box more often though!

I'll probably have the DS2000+alcon/prodrive discs and pray these last a bit longer

Cheers

Just examined my discs today on my prodrive upgrade and I notice numerous small cracks in the discs. Is this normal or do I have a probelm? I have covered 4,000 miles and 3 track days with them?

Paul.
