F1 Drivers Challenge Fitness Test- Rockingham
Nah didn't get through how about your hubby ?
Test involves nearly killing yourself
20min warm up
10 full push ups with hands together including holding half way and then almost all the way down.
Repeat with hands slightly wider apart
Repeat with hands slightly wider apart again.
Hover in push up position but resting on elbows with both feet on ground for some time (felt like forever)
Repeat with right leg 1" off ground
Repeat with left leg 1" off ground
~20 sit ups
_20 little pushes whilst in top of sit up position
Repeat hover bits above trying not to throw up
Loads of squat thrusts of various types
Sit with back against wall with legs and knees at 90 degrees till theres not many of you left
Then finally theres a shuttle exercise with golf ***** and buckets.
All of this happens with almost no break between exercises !
The people that are there for the session are divided into a number of groups (7 whilst we were there).
~10% go through. On the day I went if you didn't complete the test it appeared you didn't get through.
Its not an equal number from each of the 7 groups which went through.
Be prepared for a lot of hanging around before and after your test.
Whole fitness part took about 1 hour from when we left suite until we returned.
The test is outside.
Just enjoy it

So what's the point of this?
It seems a lot like the army basic fitness test so why the F1 reference.
You can be super fit and be scared to drive at anything over 50mph, or you could be not quite as fit and be the best driver in the world. I do realise you need a reasonable amount of fitness to drive a F1 car. From what I can gather though, you need good strong neck muscles.
Anyway, to drive a F1 car, I reckon you need a focused mind, far more than a fit body.

I reckon cause they only want ~<150 people into the next round a fitness test is the quickest way of getting rid of alot of people. There were an awful lot of people who thought they were fit who came unstuck badly.
I suspect you're right and they've got rid of a lot of good drivers and maybe ones who would be far better than those who got through. I still suspect though that in order to enter you can drive a bit and if you're fit then that's a big bonus as well so they'll still end up with someone who will do well.
Never mind didn't want to drive historic F1 Lotus in european championship in Monza anyway
