Anyone got any advice as to where and how much its going to cost me to get hold of a new alternator for my 98 sport my car decided to not start on me earlier and the aa have found the alternator is practically gone in that only works when i give the car lots of revs.

he suggested getting a re-built one but i would prefer pending price to get new one and not have this trouble again any advice from the scooby pro's would be good thanks.

Proberly needs new brushes in it mate. Thats all. Easy job if u have any mechanical knowledge. Go to a good Auto elecrician, they will proberly have brush kits. May be the Comm but i doubt it. Could be wrong thou. Worth trying thou first. £ 20 quid cheaper then £120

 

that sounds more like it i just got a quote for one 150 quid for a 2nd hand replacement and thats not even fitted. i dont have alot of mechanical knowledge but worht a good tinker with to save 100 quid me thinks!
