I am shortly (hopefully) getting a PPP ECU for my MY98 Impreza.

In order for this to work when fitted I understand that it will require a ECU reset to sychronise the immobilser so that the car will actually start.

I know the main dealer can do this for me, but is there anyone else ?

I believe so. Check with the chaps in Drivetrain first though to be sure, but having swapped ECUs over on an MY00 which has the immobiliser, I can safely say that I didn't need to reprogram anything.

 

AFAIK the ECU swap thing and messing about with immobiliser / keys started with the MY01 (bugeye)
