Question Strong smell of petrol

Sorry I already made posting on general discuaaion section but now realise my question is better suited to here (new to site)

Over the last couple of days a very strong smell of petrol has started to appear inside the car (01 WRX with no mods) and when I lift the bonnet it is worse particularly around the centre of the engine.

Does anyone have any idea what might be the cause of this and also can anyone suggest a good independent garage in the South London area.

Any help would be much appreciated as I am a bit nervous of driving it at the moment in case it goes up in smoke.

Thanks

KOB

I had this a few days ago on my 99 type-r.

It was a leaking fuel line.

It was the line from the front, passenger side injector. As the metal pipe goes beneath the inlet manifold, there is a rubber pipe connecting it to antoher metal line, secured by two jubilee clips.

I tightened these and it got better

I'd imagine the newer model is the same.

Easy - use the simple lighter method to check for possible fuel leak. Simply open the bonnet and wave a lighter about. Any fuel leaks will be dealt with by your insurance.
