Question QUICK QUESTION - MY00 Clear HEADLAMPS

Will UK MY00 Clear Headlamps fit straight on to a UK MY98?.....

Just wondering if they bolt straight on?....

Matt.

They certainly do mate - I'm after a set myself !

Any joy with a MY99/00 bumper ? Don't forget different indicators will also be required, the dealer will need to factor those into the price cos you're MY98 ones won't fit. If this is feasible, you may as well ask them for clear ones, may well be cheaper than standard.

Hi Tony!

They won't fit an MY99/00 bumper because they have to go of the chassis number of the car!... The *******s! Even though the MY99/00 bumper is cheaper from the dealers! The clear foglamps are cheaper as well, but they're having none of it. Same goes for the clear headlamps, they won't fit them...

I asked them if they could colour code the sills/wing mirrors (while they've made the paint up) and the guy said he'd let me know how much extra it would be. Anyway, they've looked at the car and they're ringing me tomorrow to let me know when it's going in.

Anyway....

I can't drive my car at the moment as I have no headlights (they're smashed) - I rang my insurance company and asked them if I could order some headlights so I can use my car "legally" on the road and they agreed!.... So I'm gonna order myself a set of clear headlamps and clear foglights from the dealers today!

Also on Friday when the guy calls me back about taking my car in, I'm going to argue with him that I want a MY99 bumper fitting as it's cheaper and it'll save on my insurance a bit - I'm also going to telephone my insurance company tomorrow and see what they say - if they give me the go-ahead I'll just go back to the place that are doing my car and tell them my insurance company have said do it, so "Do it!"

Which brings me to a few points...

Will an MY99 bumper fit straight on to the car?.....
Will an MY99 Grille go straight on (I think this changed as well didn't it?)

Did anything else change from MY98 to MY99/00 on the front of the car?....

Matt.

It is a pain, but I'm going to pursue this all the way - I wouldn't have minded, but I didn't realise my excess was £450!!!! OUCH! So if I'm forking out £450, I may as well get my money's worth and a few subtle modifications (it's cheaper for the insurance company as well) - Thank God for protected no claims!
