I have some shares in my sister name but she is in Hong Kong and will not be back for another 2 weeks.

The shares are peaking and I think its a good time to sell.
Is it possible for her to sell them over the phone or by e-mail?
I used to buy shares in HSBC cuz its the cheapest place I can find without loads of paperwork.
Does any one have any ideas?

Well your sister should sign the transfer form (Crest if it is a UK Equity). I would be reluctant to sell shares in a third party name and pay the proceeds to someone else. Original signature is required on transfer form so form could be faxed to Hong Kong but original would have to be delivered with cert to broker. Maybe if the proceeds are less than £10k, some brokers may be less formal on Money Laundering Regulations but I think you will have difficulty in executing the sale quickly without your sister in attendance.
