Quite a few (Direct Line, Norwich Direct, etc.) will give you a discount for having both car and house insured with them. Having said that, although I've got the car with Direct Line they weren't competitive for the house.

Similarly, although More Th>n were the best for the house. They wanted More Th>n £200 More Th>n Direct Line for the car .

AA Insurance might be a good place to start as they are a broker and are not tied to any one insurance company. They should be able to give you an indication of the going rate for properties like yours in your area.

try Zurich or L&V. Both reasonable price, good cover and excellent in terms of claims.

Try a broker like Swinton or the AA.

Been with Direct Line for 3 years - renewal too high (yet again) so I hunted about and got mine about a third cheaper with Quoteline Direct, who offered the same level of cover but higher insured amounts. Check out their website.

Relatively painless.
