Question

When starting off in first gear in my UK spec 98 Turbo I sometimes find there is a bit of vibration with the whole car shaking. This doesnt happen when the car has been driven for a few miles and therefore only seems to happen sometimes when the car is moving off after a cold start.

Just wondering has anyone found this problem before.

Unfortunately this is a "feature" of many UK models around this age - if you take it to a dealer they will probably say "they all do that sir"

If you search this forum for "clutch judder" you will find a lot of useful information. I certainly did when my 97 spec scooby started with it.

Welcome Gavin,

Yeap they all do that - had mine replaced under warranty with 14K miles and the replacement was doing the same within a week and I am no rally driver!

What part of the Emerald Isle R U from (without giving your address on the net). I thought Scoobies were nigh on impossible to insure/keep over there unless of course you just sold a big pad in Dublin!

Regards

Jerome

My MY99 does the same, just keep the revs up and it's ok.

Thanks for the response.

I was sorta half thinking that it was a common "problem" anyway, but just thought I'd ask the pros!

To answer your question JFB, I live in Co. Donegal, up in the N. West. And your right, irish insurance companies hate Scoobies with a passion. I was gonna buy a 99 WRX STi Type R but discovered it was outta the question! So i'll have to make do with my humble UK Turbo!
