Renewal Cost v New Policy
Am currently insured with Priviledge and renewal came through @ £848 - with £500 excess. I'm 29 7 yrs ncb good post code on an 03 WRX.
I phoned / checked web for various companies and the only one better was tesco - however as the car is on contract hire you cant buy over the web you have to phone them and they slap 10% on top (I mean remove the buy online discount)..
Out of interest I tried Priviledge on-line price with £500 excess quote - £768...!
At the end of their quote they have a button marked 'call to buy' and unlike Tesco don't remove the online discount.
A quick £80 saving - a new policy number but they can transfer NCB and evidence of security across automatically so no extra hastle for me.
My wife works in insurance and says its because they are targeted on new business not retention of customers.......so worth a try before you accept a renewal!

Insurance companies rely on apathy. The people who just pay the renewal, no questions. I'm with HIC, my renwal came through £595. Phoned up as if I was a new customer - £415. It kinda pissed me off. Give 'em an inch
