Where's the torque gone
Was at WL7 on Sunday, the only change from the last time was a Green panel filter, instead of the OE one.
The power was 4bhp up on last time. (Quite probable for a filter)
The torque was 20 down, at 269lb/ft.
WHERE DID IT GO?????????????
The weather was colder than last time, (sept 03) so should not have been down like this.????????
Any suggestions????? and or comments, as to the reasons
PS the car had done about 11K, now 18K.

Hi Paul,
There could be a whole host of explanations.
Unless your car was EXACTLY as it was in September. A lot could happen to affect your results.
Plugs might be getting tired now?
Tyre pressures may not be the same?
Green filter may produce better flow at top end, but may have affetced midrange?
Different fuel?
Maybe fuel filter needs changing with an extra 7k miles under its belt
Different oil used or maybe oil not in as good condition as on your last run
etc. etc.
There could be any number of explanations, those above are purely guesses. There are literally 100s of variables in this kind of situation, so it's impossible to compare results that are months apart.
But I wouldn't be too downhearted about it.

P.S.
If figures had been down for EVERYONE it could perhaps have been attributable to the rollers but several people's torque figures were up on last time and Yorkshire Simon's were pretty much the same IIRC.

Will look into a few of those.
Plugs - Due to be replaced soon
Tyre Presures - Increased for this time, (your previous post reminded me)
Oil - There's a good one, now running fully synth, since 14.5K, instead of std semi-synth.
Magnex cat-back (sports cat) for next time.
Then APS FMIC, and GEMS, for time after.

Re oil, I remember reading somewhere a back to back dyno test using the same car and different oils (sure it was a Subaru too) and the results differed by something like 8bhp or summat daft like that.
It's amazing what difference oil can make.
When you think what speed your crank and even more so your turbo shaft are spinning, the quality of your oil is obviously crucial.

Did Martin say you chilled the intercooler with a fire extinguisher the last time. Would that not fool the ECU into developing more torque mate. I still think your car was running canny on the rollers and looks good to.
