Default Clifford 600 proximity sensor - why only cats?

I've a clifford 600 alarm and the proximity sensor only seems to go off if next doors cat walks underneath it.

You can jump about (scream and shout) next to the car when armed and nothing. The cat goes near it and it gives the few warning bleeps then goes off. Only other time it works without fail is when opening the garage door.

Also, I've got an instruction book with the different settings and how to change them but the alarm seem to ignore the lot. I wanted to set it to automatically close the windows when armed but it won't and I thought that this was a standard feature on the 600.

Apart from the cat and ignoring setting changes its fine and does the job OK.

we have the Clifford 500 and generally it works fine. The only problem I have with it is that it seems to only go off when it feels like it. I can stare into the front window and side windows and sometimes it will give a 'beep' and other times it won't

We haven't tried to adjust the sensor yet as we haven't had time so i am keeping my fingers crossed that it will be better one that is adjusted.

It's a standard feature, but the alarm has to be wired into your window electrics.

The prox sensor has an inner and outer 'bubble', the inner bubble should not be disturbed by anything walking around the outside of the car.

Get the prox sensor checked as bad prox location, metalwork, interference etc will give trouble.

Also you should have a modified C600 especially for Impreza's, my car had the wrong C600 fitted and my alarm went off periodically and the prox was very temperamental.
