Question

Can anyone explain why the PPP for a MY00 has to be fitted by Prodrive, whereas the PPP for MY01 is fitted by the dealer.

AFAIK exactly the same bits get changed on both (ie ECU, i/c pipes and exhaust centre and backbox).

Seems to me it just adds to the cost by the dealer having to take the car to Prodrive.

I had MY00 PPP fitted at dealers. IIRC, the MY01 ECU is not actually replaced but reprogrammed, or am I talking crap again?

Of course the ideal would be a PPP ECU available for say £500 that you could fit yourself, then choose your own exhaust and fit Samco hoses or similar. But I can see that is a bit less defined for warranty purposes, hence perhaps Prodrive's insistence on the whole package or none at all and it being done on a totally unmodded car.

Hi John,

Which dealer???? Could you mail me if you don't want it to be public knowledge....

I would like to get a PPP but am put off by

The Price £1700
The hassle of putting back my complete exhaust system
Losing my car for several days (what the dealer said)

I'd love to go to a dealer and get it done there. ( That is the ECU, Piping, Badge, then come home with the certificate, mid section and backbox in the boot)
