Default Help Overfilled Gearbox

Today i changed the Gearbox oil on My00 Uk Turbo , To Castrol Syntrax .
After Re filling with 3.5L, It is about 4 mm over the full level. I though that it would take the full 4L. What do you think should i drain off some or will it be ok ?.

It should be ok, I have read somewhere on here it's recommended having an extra couple of mil over the max mark!

Indeed, something to do with 3rd gear often only getting "a splash" of oil if you keep the level below maximum, potentially leading to a gearbox replacement/rebuild...

Yep, i run mine about 10mm over the full mark on the dipstick.

I have found that the gear change is slightly slicker and much easier from cold.

I've found that the dipstick reading for the gearbox is very level sensitive. The slightest slope will give a false reading. Re-check it somewhere that you know is truly level.
