CEL fix fitted, light still on
Fitted a decat downpipe and centre last weekend to my MY02, but didn't have time to fit the CEL fix. I've done it tonight and the light is still on. It took over 40miles for it to come on in the first place, should i expect it to take as long to go out??
Austin, I've a MY02 bugeye with a full de-cat and the CEL light plagued me for months.
If the CEL light is on then fitting the CEL fix will not cancel the ECU fault which I think is PF0420 (missing or faulty CAT).
You need to clear the fault code and then fit the CEL fix.
AFAIK the ECU looks for a fluctuating value from the "fix" and throws up a ECU fault even with the fix in place. If you have taken the trouble to de-cat then a re-map is in order :-) EcuTeK re maps can fool the ECU into thinking that the CAT is still there.. :-)
Midlife......
Edited to add that Bob Rawle who posted above sorted the CEL problem via his EcuTek re-map of my MY02....FOR EVER...... the 300 BHP plus was simply a side effect !!!

I'm a bit worried that i haven't fitted the fix in the correct place!! Where or which O2 sensor should i have fitted the fix to?? I have fitted it to the o2 sensor in the cat pipe (see picture/link below)
