Subaru 2wd Transaxle

I'm working with a Subaru SVX engine in a midengine layout. My question is does anyone have any knowledge of how strong the 2wd Subaru transmissions are (mid 1990s). In the US 2wd was available to 1996 so these transaxles are around and quite cheap. Any help is VERY appreciated.
