A friend of mine used to restore Spitfires back in the eighties but his business was a resession victim and hence, he has this and one other left. This one is the most complete, the other is a "dig" (crashed and dug from the ground).
He has now decided that he will never get round to restoring them so may as well let someone else with more time/energy have a go.
Yes, if you decide to split can I have the 20mm cannons (presuming its the later mark one shown) to replace the .303 machine guns on my earlier version. In fact if it is a later one it wouldn't have been able to serve in the Battle Of Britain would it?
Yes the pic shows a late one. Not a Battle of Britain aircraft.
Think the mark 5 was the first one with the clipped wings.
If it is battle of britain veteran I would be interested
Steve
The picture does not show the actual aircraft. Neither is it supposed to represent the type/model. I just did a Google image search to provide something that would brighten up the thread. Sorry for any confussion.
I left a message for my friend asking for the reg numbers etc of the aircraft and hope he will get back to me at some point today.
