Anyone know how much this is and what it covers? i.e. is it worth it?

P1 is coming up to 3 yrs old and just had a letter from original dealer saying I should consider it - no prices or details.

I'm sure this has been done before but the search facility doesn't work through our firewall.

Im not sure but doesnt it drop some of the parts (clutch and brake parts) but it still covers everything else (cost around 400quid per annum? unlimited miles?) so worth taking out if your going to keep the car for a while

If the car is still in warranty when you extend then you are still covered for everything under the terms of the original warranty.
If you renew once the original warranty has run out then it is a lot more limited in what is covered.

It's still in warranty (doesn't expire until April) - what does the original warranty cover that justifies the cost?

I think it includes roadside recovery still which is worth what, £100?

 

I think that 400 quid per year is pretty good tbh, if it covers the likes of the gearbox (a few k for a new one) the engine (just a little on the expensive side ) and pretty much everything else, it will one day pay you if something goes wrong (especially the cost of labour nowerdays )

I thought that after the normal 3 years are over for a new car, Subaru Warranty give you the option of either a 1 or 2 year warranty which is either £250 or £380 (better to go for the £380 one as it saves you money).

After this the next one is around £400.

Was the case with me and my RB5. Mistake I made was to get the 1 year only (didnt have the cash for 2 years), then had the sting of the £400 one.


If you have the warranty docs call Subaru Warranty directly, I know some Subaru Dealers offer their own warranty and they are much cheaper, dont think they provide breakdown cover.

I thought I'd add my info. as it's recent and there's lots of prices knocking around this thread.

I extended after my 3 years was up on 4th December for two years, cost £440. Prices may vary based on mileage. I think the car must have done under 60K for them to offer a standard price. I understand that there are differences between the policies. They are operated by different organisations (Subaru Warranty v IM?).

Basically if it can save me £220 a year, I'm in profit .

Another P1 was in the garage at the last service, a crank bearing had spun and knocked out the bottom end. Car had done 52K. Knowing that this can happen, I'll take the warranty over an additional 220 beer vouchers.

22B UK, not a P1, but I went with the 2 year extended warranty when the car was 3 years old....car is now 4 years and 10 months old and currently having a few hundred quids worth of warranty work done..no quibbles..very happy I extended, soo sorry I've only 2 months cover left .

Not sure what your angle is? The Subaru UK warranty can be had either by phoning the dealer or responding to a mail-shot. The policy is the same, and costs the same IIRC. You get full Subaru Assist again and cover for everything that the original 2nd and 3rd years warranty covered. As long as you are below 60k miles you can pay for 1 or 2 years extension, and either up to 60k miles or unlimited.

He can only be referring to the fact that your P1 (along with all UK Subaru's) is supplied with 1 years manufacturers warranty(Subaru) and years 2&3 are underwritten by International Motors..this is clear in the service/warranty book IIRC.
Years 4&5 are exactly the same as years 2&3.
