Had one fitted to my 300ZX. two years ago with remote start and some other goodies. Had to pay £100 extra because it was a 300ZX so the whole thing was over a £1000!!!!
Well worth it though really really good reliable alarm, no false alarms etc and worked when it needed to (proximity alarm).
Got mine done at in car electronics in notts

Make sure you get it fitted by a Authorised Dealer, make sure they have all the certificates.
I made the mistake of going for the cheaper box and the Subaru has alot of "dirty power" as they call it and fitter didn't know this so the car alarm went off every 12hrs and a Authorised Dealer should have the modded units to sort this.
Personally I think they toilet and inreliable and a Toad is far better + at the end of the day a thief will get round it anyway!
By the way the alarm went off 15 times over a period a month usually in the early hours.

Clifford are expensive, but you do get the option of adding all the bits to it (inteli start etc), some people do have problems but if fitted well this should not be the case. If you want good basic security then go for a Toad or Sigma (or possibly the Avital Maxx 1, but I aint had too much experience with them yet so dont know their quirks and faults). Whoever is doing the 600 for £450 in half a day AVOID THEM! To do a 600 in that amount of time is cutting corners and will not be a reliable, secure installation. Dont go to these mobile companies (like the one that advertises on the back of Lax Power) If it was you fitting it would you want to be on someones driveway in the wet and cold with frezzing fingers trying to join wires? No, they will do the quickest job possible to get back in their warm van. Look on Cliffords website (or Toad/Sigma, which ever you want to get) for your nearset 3/4 dealers and go see them.

I can confirm the "dirty power" advice (was told the same) and the need for a good installer.
Two days & £650 sounds about right. I had a Cliford 600 fitted 16 months ago, and am delighted to report no false alarms or problems so far.
Plus, despite the warning about the anti-carjacking (BlackJax) feature voiding the Thatcham Cat One Status (they don't like anything that stops the car whilst it's being driven) my insurance company are happy to have it activated. Hence more peace of mind that it makes it that little bit harder for the thieving little s***s to steal your pride & joy.
