Checked the Gearbox Oil level for the 1st time last night and found that it's well above the marks on the dipstick.

Is this because the oil was still warm and expanded or was it extremly over filled. If so it probabley explains my Synchro crunching when hot.

Could be time for some syntrax or whtaever I can get in Halfords

Any suggestions, and whats the capacity.

My Subaru manual says to only check the trans level after a longish drive (hot). I don't understand that though, why they have a cold check mark.

I have noticed varied results from cold and hot testing, so are now following the manual.

The foaming and pressure caused by an over fill tranny will cause synchro crunch.
