At least I hop it's the pedal and not the actual clutch

Whenever I change gear I hear a strange squeaking noise which seems to come from just under the dashboard. This only happens when the clutch pedal is being pressed to the floor, not on the way backup as I release it. It doesn't seem to have any effect on the actual gear change but it is get very annoying. Is this serious or is it another "they all do that sir"?

Doh! now why didn't I think of that

 

I've also got a squeaking clutch pedal - from under the dash - but it's only noticeable when I'm creeping using the clutch. I assumed it was the pedal pivot and got the dealer to look at it (it's under warranty).

They removed, cleaned and lubricated the pivots, but said there was no sign of these having caused the problem. Suggested if the problem isn't cured, may need a new clutch (under warranty). They believed it may be the clutch driven plate sticking and this is being transmitted back up to the pedal pivot. Don't quite follow the logic of this, but as it still squeaks I think I'll go for the new clutch as it won't cost me anything.

 

Thankfully the WD40 did the trick - my cars warrenty ran out 2 weeks ago!
