OIL LEAK

I HAVE RECENTLY PURCHASED A 1996 WRX WAGON
I SEEM TO HAVE AN OIL LEAK BETWEEN THE ENGINE & GEARBOX,I CHECKED THE ENGINE OIL LEVEL WHICH IS TO HIGH, THE GEARBOX LEVEL IS BETWEEN THE HIGH & LOW.
DONT REALY KNOW WHERE TO START ANY IDEAS

Roger - had a similar concern myself, a thin layer of oil on the underside of the car.

Turned out to be the Power Steering reservoir boiling over after spirited driving or a weeping union at the bottom of the power steering reservoir. The reservoir is at the front LH corner of the engine, as you stand in front of the car.

I've topped mine up with Castrol Dexron III auto trans fluid from Halfords, and no more leaking.

Its worth a quick check.
