Hi guys

After suffering with badly corroded heat shield, which was rattling every time the car was stopped or started I have taken the step of removing both the upper and lower halves of the offending item today.
It's the one on the left side looking into the engine bay.
My question is what do I replace it with,if at all.
There is no way a new one will go on as the bolts are rusted solid into the manifold. But with it being in close proximity to the oil filter and the plastic cover for the drive belts would it be wise to cover the manifold with heat resistant wrap or should I just leave it open to the elements?

Any help or adivce or anyone who has also removed their heat shields let me know.

Thanks

Chris

I would fit something over the manifold at least. Don`t know what year your car is but on mine (`99) the clutch master cylinder has a metal shield round it to protect from heat.

At the end of the day, Subaru don`t put shields on just to make things look pretty......

Oh and Demon Tweeks for example sell wrap for the manifold and turbo.

Best part of a hundred pound to do it all.
