Hi

I've read all the usual threads and web pages on fitting the KL and sensor. Thanks to everyone that has given there 2 pence worth.

I've fitted KL guage to the interior of the car okay - the bottom green light comes on.

My problem - with my MY99 UK turbo - is with removing the nut (M8x20mm) the sensor goes on, i.e. the one below the intercooler on the passenger side, i.e. where most people have fitted the sensor.

I've had a couple of goes at it and I've sprayed wd40 etc, but the 13mm socket is starting to thread the head of the bolt.

Is there another place in the engine bay I can fit the sensor to?

try this
the oe knocksensor has a little white clip holding the lead in place,pull out the clip and you will find a lovely tapped hole,i did anyway

On my 96 Uk there was a hole in the block in line with the Idle control valve and below the intercooler which was threaded and with lots of WD40 and turning bolt in and out took a bolt from the tmic to bracket securing bolt (I was about to remove the intercooler for a fmic so didn;t mind it having a bolt missing)
but you could use that??

Quick bit of advice....

The bolt is 12mm, which is why you are rounding it off.

I've put mine there and I too had a problem getting it started. It is 12mm and I sprayed some WD40 on it and put pressure on it with the ratchet handle and gave it a tap with a hammer. During my mechanical engineer days I was taught to give stubborn bolts a few taps to loosen the thread. I used an M8X40 bolt with a couple of washers.

And I mean tap not whack as hard as you can!
