Yesterday I was blatting thru the lanes and every time I changed into 5th the gear crunched but went in. If I'm driving slower (like under 60)no problem but when I was giving it large thru the box, crunch into 5th every time.

The cars only done 7,700 miles has anyone else suffered this on an MY03 car???

Yes you have somehow done in the synchro, It happened to me after only 4500 miles, i took it to the garage, and the replaces the syncro and 3rd and 4rd gears, no fuss.

Id get it to the garage pronto, possibly get somebody to go out with you to prove it.

It's booked in and yes the sync ring has gone. I've got to ride around in a Polo for a week

Seems to be a popular problem, i had my Type R synchros done about 10,000 miles ago, about 8,000 miles later 5th gear is fecked again.
