hello all. have a y reg wrx which has started a graity rattley sound when on overrun in all gears above 20 mph.when powering on not a sound.it sounds to be at the front somewhere ,all driveshafts look to be ok (nothing catching etc.)

any ideas? cos i'm out of em.!

Hiya Mate

I have the same sort of noise that seems to kick in at about 3000rpm in any gear. Had a mechanic look at it who seemed to think it was the gears in the rev counter - havent taken the dash out yet to check it out, but just an idea for you.

Could be a heat shield on the turbo/exhaust.

cheers lads. the plot thickens,had car up on 2 post ramp and run car up to speed of 80 in top,when easing off it sounds like an ange grinder is inside the rear end of the gear box.sounds realy sick and expensive.what could it be??
