Exclamation

For those that have experienced an occasional knocking noise, and squeaking sounds when turning left or right - get your CV joints and bearings checked for play asap!

I had my car checked the other week; the n/s/f wheel had "loads of play" and i was advised not to drive it.

After buying a new wheel bearing, I took it to a local garage who then stripped the whole assembly.
Not only was the bearing completely knackered, but the hub was found to be worn away also! The brake disc was occasionally grinding on the caliper when turning, so that was scored too. The wheel was literally hanging off! :O

You can only imagine the consequences if i was booting it along a bumpy country road...

In the end it all cost

bearing & seals £90
hub £180
abs sensor £150
brake disc skimmed £25
labour £60
1 day lost earnings £104

total £609

I'm pleased to say that i feel better that the noise has gone and the brakes are perfect - but its not what i needed straight after xmas... :/
