My Magnex backbox has signs of rust at the region just round the pipe and especially above it. Had it for less than a year...

Anyone with similar experience? Any solutions to the problem?

Lower price = Lower quality??? I sincerely hope not.

 

Mine's similar, the top of the tailpipe is discoloured (rusty?). It's about 1.5yrs old but I can't test the Magnex guarantee since I bought it second hand and don't have the original receipt.

I think Magnex exhausts are warrantied for at least 20 years.
Check with a Magnex dealer, there should be no problem in exchanging it for a new unit because of age.

 

I would check if it is rust, they are a quality product and made from the same grade stainless steel as others (304).

If it is, I think they are lifetime guaranteed.

I've seen a lot of Magnex BB's that discolour in the same way as you've described. I don't think it's rust, just discolouration...

I had a Magnex fitted to my old car, we ripped off the original system, fitted the new started her up and then discovered a crack arong the weld of the box box...
Bad news indeed as the original system had to be cut off.
I had to get a mate to weld it up for me, contacted them to complain, they didn't help.
One exhaust I'm staying away from.
