Unhappy

I have an HKS Hiper running of a Scoobysport downpipe on a UK MY98 Turbo running HKS powerflow induction and Std ECU.

I am concerned that the noise levels will be too much for the Rings 100Db @ 3500RPM limit.

Does anyone have any ideas on how I might loose a few Db's?

I have had an HKS silencer insert on order for weeks now, but there wont be any in the country for weeks yet

For obvious reasons, Id rather not swap the old D/P back (its the only part of the original system I still have).

Any ideas?

Also, is it true that the volume levels are caused by the Std ECU running so rich and a mapped ECU will reduce the volume? Obviousely this is a longer term solution, but I have just installed an EVC IV boost controller and am configuring it at the moment, will that help?

James.

James,

The evc won't make the car any quieter. But just an idea, if the test is only carried out once, you could knock the boost right down on the boost controller or turn it off, which should reduce the noise even at full throttle, maybe just enough to let it pass.

I know the hiper is extremely loud as I tried one on mine a while back but with the hks downpipe which made it even louder!

Something we used to do years ago with my Escort rally car was stuff wire wool up the tailpipe so that it passed the noise test. Took it out after the test.

Sounds scientific enough for me!

Iv'e got nothing to add to this but say that I have my Blitz Nur-spec R system arriving on the 2nd Of May! I just hope that putting the removable baffle back in come MOT time, she will also be low enough.....
