Just watched the 4x4 test - STi PPP 305bhp 0-60 in 4.3 to 4.5 secs

Evo 8 FQ300 - 300bhp 0-60 4.3 secs

Audi S4 - 339BHP 0-60 5.6 secs

When tested Evo leaves both audi and subaru for dead and then the audi from start leaved the subaru for dead - must be missing something, but this was not quite what I expected taking BHP per tonne into consideration.

The next release of that DVD will have the Spec C, which leaves them all for dead.

 

Wasn't complaining - just looking for a reason for this, trying to decide on and evo 8 fq300 or STi PPP and just needed some proper advice. I know quite a bit about both cars and am not subaru biased.

Everything thats on it has been on a previous top gear episode which was a shame.

 

My dads got an evo8 and TBH i was expecting it to beat the scooby,tho it was a joke how much it left it buy

 

I got both of the new Clarkson DVD's...
Might as well be one!

3. the figures are lieing and its really much much slower

1. It wasn't driven to its potential;
2. It was ****ed;
3. The figures are lying and it's really much much slower.

I really am not that naive. But as you have not said "the scoob is much better", you would probably have given the most unbiased answer, but instead you head is shoved that far up your own a_rse that it was hardly worth it. I have had some very helpful people point me in the right direction on previous car purchases and mods and hoped for a similar response.

Hi,

STI PPP or EVO8 FQ would be a great choice and very little in it for real world driving. Audi is not really in the same mould so ignore straight line performance/smooth track ability. If you can afford the fuel bills (20mpg at best) buy an EVO8 FQ, the handling/steering are sublime....but then I'm biased ..and the spec 'c' is a great car as I sure the EVO8 MR (March 2004) will be...tomorrow is always the best day to choose your pride and joy.

i did not understand your inital post, it had no meaning apart from "i must be missing sumthing" i would have said it was pretty ovb to relise why you were a bit "miffed" if you still have not "got it" try my numberd hints on reliseing why the scooby was beat

this is a subaru site, you will not get a unbiased opinion on here, the masses will say "get the scooby cos its better, the odd person will actualy reason the cause and such but this is rare, but its no diffrent from visiting a lancer evo site and asking them the same question "scoobys are crap get a evo"
it shouldnt have been to hard to work it out, i mean now im sober i can work it out myself, if your having problems working out these small types of "problems" then to build up your brain power i sugest you buy a copy of "chat" for women and start on a few of the word teasers to get that brain ticking again, after a few months of hard work, then if your feeling a touch more powerfull in the brain department try a cross word, sumtimes you can win money from them!!

I do apologise, I have driven all three cars and was a bit upset at the video, now I know clarkson does it to wind people up / get a debate going but the EVO was honestly half way down the track before the subaru got moving - and I'm sure anyone who has seen the DVD (even EVO owners) must have laughed their *** off.

I to was shocked at what can only be described as an utter trouncing the STI gets at the hands of the EVO.

Prodrive's figures ARE UTTER BOLLOKS!

I shall be looking at a FQ330 as a next car (among others) I won't even consider a STI8 PPP as a replacement for my STI Type R.

C'mon Subaru! Give us an EVO beater with a warranty and one that doesn't look like a but plug! (the EVO isn't THAT pretty)

Subaru have given us a EVO beater the STI type C check this months evo mag.

It was a chat magazine with a gay alarm (nothing offensive unless your a gay man, who is acting straight) guess we have to ask which mod removed it ?

 

I meant Subaru UK. I'm well aware of the Spec C.
It does not come with a Subaru warranty.
Also, the Spec C tested is not standard, it's been breathed on. Though even in standard form, it's an awesome car.
I should imagine a FQ330 would give a Spec C a run for it's money, at the very least. Against a UK STI8 PPP, the FQ330 would be in another league.

 

The car in the test was an FQ300 not an FQ330 - although I agree the FQ330 would take some beating - and it has been beaten, see latest EVO Mag I think it is. SPEC C beats FQ330 in all tests, this was also against a golf R32 - which won on comfort etc. They said the EVO 8 had become too refined (ahem!!)

 

Is that January's EVO? I've only seen the Spec C pitted against a FQ300.
If the Spec C is Ian Litchfeilds then it's not really fair, that Spec C has a 2.5 engine and has not been standard for some time. Even before the 2.5 engine, Litchfeilds car was running a re-map plus full de-cat and handling tweaks.

If Subaru UK were to bring the Spec C over here, I would choose it over a FQ330 (if I could get used to the but plug like appearance). But a STI8 PPP and a FQ330 are not in the same league, I'd choose the EVO every time. And that's from a scooby driver.

I know the car in the test was a FQ300 and not a FQ330, I to got the DVD for Xmas. God, are we all that predictable? Did anyone NOT get this DVD this Xmas?

LOL - Doesn't seem to matter how unfair the tests are - we'll all buy the next DVD.

You can by the FQ300 and get the 30BHP upgrade for £500 + Vat
