right my mates uk2000 impreza, tuned to about 269bhp i belive, clutch has gone, he phoned suberu and they said something like £600 for a new one, which i think is abit steep

anyway someone mentioned to me that the impreza clutch has an inherent clutch fault so just replacing it with another is pointless and u may as well go for a pro drive uprated clutch which is cheeper?

can anyone point me in the right direction to contact them?

and secondly he was just going along at about 20mph when his second gear went, so now he has no second gear (dont matter at the mo cos hes got no clutch) can u just replace the 2nd gear part or is it a whole new gearbox job?

many thanx

Exclamation

The clutch and flywheel on my old MY99 was £666 for parts + fitting. Mine was a twin plate clutch, prone to judder but mine didn't. It was repaced with a single plate version hence the new flywheel. IIRC

but If warranty is not an issue you could get an uprated clutch and lightened flywheel fitted for that price

Gearbox very expensive, generally labour & materials for rebuild will be cheaper. but really depends on who does it. If you give a rough area where you mate live peeps on here will direct you to reputable Garages

IMHO

im not sure if he has a single or twin plate clutch, is there much of a price difference

could you point me to some websites or phone numbers for an uprated clutch?

and yer on the gearbox everyother gear works fine, its just the 2nd gear thats knackered, can that bit just be rebuilt?

Same happned to my old MY97 going along at 20 and 2nd went.

Got a couple of stupid quotes just to replace 2nd then scoobyclinic came to the rescue. Supplied and fitted another box for the price i was being quoted for just 2nd.

There in derbyshire though so a bit to far.

They also supplied and fitted a new clutch well under £200.
