just got a plug in hands free kit for my phone, but when its plugged in, the radio reception gets much worse. The radio was never that great in the first place - now its bad enough that it tries to rescan every 5 minutes or so.

Is this just the phone, or a general problem with the cigarette lighter? Its the plug and go type from carphone warehouse, which seemed to be the most convenient of the simple handsfrees.

As I'll need to use this whenever I'm in the car, is there a solution?

 

Easy fix that. Turn the radio off. LOL

 

As already mentioned turn off the radio and put casette / cd in.

Seriously it could be the earth lead that is a little corrosion on it

Does the radio take power from the cig lighter? Run a clean feed to radio for best reception, and also check the earth for it.
