I have a 240 bhp engine in my MY97 stb Forester, as found in WRX Wagons.
WRX Saloons are typically listed as 280 bhp.
Anyone know what the difference is in terms of hardware & software and is it easy to upgrade?

Is yours an imported Forester then, or has it already been tweaked? Or is that what the 'stb' signifies?
Isn't 240bhp would be more thasn adequate in a Forester anyway?
Stef.

More power is never enough.....
The stb is 240 bhp std in Japan, whilst the UK version has 170 bhp.
I understand that the engine comes in two forms in the Far East, the Impreza WRX with 280 and Wagons with 240. My Forester has the later engine.
I was just curious if anyone knew what was the difference. Is it just a modified chip or something more substantial like a different turbo and pressure set up.
I won't go to 280 until I have sorted out the grip situation. The tyres are plainly inadequate but there isn't a lot of choice. I will probably end up getting the 17" wheels on the new Scooby.
