Situation.

Trundling along about 30 in 3rd gear 2500/3000 RPM.

Floor the loud pedal the engine revs like mad, more noise that usual but not
much pickup, about 5500 RPM car starts to accelerate, not like normal.

Is this clutch slip ??
Is there a way of testing ?? I remember from 2WD cars selecting 4th
handbrake full on raise the clutch does that wwork with a Scooby ??

If it is clutch slip what damage am I doing driving it ??
93 WRX with nearly 50000miles, anyone recommend a good clutch ??
Lightened & balanced flywheel, good, bad, worth it ? comments please

Thanks in advance.

Try fifth in low revs up a hill.

Good clutches - AP and Helix, Heliz is more refined than AP i am told (AP too sharp a bite). Prob best to change flywheel at the same time given the age.

If you need a top notch scooby mechanic in Croydon give me a email offline.

Wink

Certainly sounds like the clutch is on the way out to me. Replaced mine last month (after 107,000 on a 96MY - Is mine the highest turbo here!?!)

On my UK car, Dealer wanted £600 to supply and fit genuine clutch. Went to a local Motor Factors and got an AP/Borg nbeck clutch kit for £150 and got my mechanic mate to fit it for a score and a couple of pints!!! Although this isn't in anyway a good clutch (bearing in mind I'm modding the car) it does quite well, at least until after xmas when I go and get an AP uprated clutch from Power Engineering!

As for damage being done, symptoms will get progressively worse, to the point were your finding it hard to pull out of junctions without revving the **** outta ya motor!!!
