Anybody know exactly whats reqd to fit a piston type VTA dump valve. It looks as thought the kits cost about £40 and I cant see it requiring anymore than blanking plug and maybe a piece of silicone hose.

Anyone got any ideas or spare bits lying about.

Yes there is a cheaper way to do this.
When I fitted mine, the accesory shop advised cutting the end off a broom or rake handle and wrapping it in insulation tape to form the bung.
This has been fine for over 4000 miles.

I have a MY99 and I manufactured a mounting plate for my Bailey valve between the intercooler and dump valve. Fitted the 2 items together with short piece of hose.
Return pipe was blanked off with a bung.

Do I need a T piece and silicone hose to go where the existing BOV is, or can I bung the left hand end and stick the valve into the right hand (intercooler) end??

Then is it a case of fitting the boost control hose onto the top of the valve??

Im sure someone knows exactly how to do this, or whether I need the fitting kit.

I blanked mine off at the throttle side with a plumbing/heating blank from B&Q, then I fitted the Dump valve into the intercooler side.

If the Dundee meet get's off the ground you can view mine. (I'm in Aberdeen)

To fit the valve you need to blank of the return pipe with a bung, and connect the dump valve to the pipe that comes from the intercooler. You also need to connect the smaller hose to the top of the valve, and to the inlet manifold.

I purchased my Bailey Evo BOV from power engineering, and they supplied the 'bung' at no extra cost. I did however have to clamp the blow off valve tight onto the pipe with a jubile clip, as the new valve was slightly smaller than the original one.

The intercooler side is the right hand side on the earlier cars and hence the left hand side is blanked, thanks anyway.

Not sure if I like the noise, I drove a car with what I thought was a bailey and it sounded great. This one is a sort of noise youd get from whistling thorough your top teeth Not very nice methinks
