Can anyone put my mind at ease,
This morning when driving the car and it was warming up, the CEL came on a couple of times only to disappear.
Also I had it come on after bein parked up over the weekend, for 3or 4 hours whilst at the cinema. It was foggy/very cold.
Is something getting damp? IE one of the sensors somewhere?
The car is running fine.
If anyone could help that would be very helpful..
Oh its a MY95 wagon.

Ive just done a search on cel etc,
I need to see whats happening, find out which sensor is showing a fault.
Are the black connectors under the dash/drivers side?

Yep, black connectors are up underneath the dash - drivers side. The Check Engine light will flash the code when you switch the ignition on (no need to start the engine).

error code 22...thats the knock sensor.
Does that mean its knackered?
It only does it briefly when very cold.. and disappears soon after.
Dealer has told me to reset the ECU and see how it does... he thinks its the sensor thats on its way out.
Can anyone add to this?
Where is the knock sensor?

Just had exactly the same problem on MY98. Mine also only happened when cold and would only stay on briefly. Scoobysport told me this indeed meant the sensor is faulty so they replaced it (about £67 + vat). I only had it replaced yesterday so don't know yet whether it has cured the problem so will keep you informed.

Regards,

Jamie.

Cheers mate,
I started my car this morning and no cel...(not as cold as yesterday)
I wonder if the sensor is on its way out, and only shows fault when very cold.

Strangely enough, I got fault code 22 as well about 2 weeks ago. Went to a Subaru dealer here, they checked out each knock sensor and the wiring to the ECU. Didn't find a problem. Got it back and not appeared since. Probably a duff connection which has been cured by removal/refitting.
