Hi I am looking at buying a subaru in the next couple of weeks and i have seen one a wrx on a k plate that states it has had a P1 turbo fitted, Anyone know what the specs are of the p1 turbo?

I would have thought if its a larger turbo more lag??

Cheers

P1 has a VF28 turbo, same as Sti5 which it would be as engine is the same. Thats a front entry jobby so check carefully as you could be being misled.

There seem to be a few WRXs being advertised with "P1 turbo" which is maybe a way of trying to sell them?

Most WRX saloons at least from 92-96 had TD05s with right angle entry which are slightly laggier than a VF28 but with 10-20% more flow capability.

even more air flow with a front entry coversion. John what would you estimate the extra airflow would get you powerwise if no other mods where done?

You mean a TD05 compared with a VF28? Not very much at standard boost levels, but when you turn the boost up and the VF28 would become inefficient the TD05 will still be efficient for a short while.
