subaru/cosworth????????
I was recently told about fitting cozzy pistons into a subaru block. Is this true or just another pub story???? Being new to subaru ( converted from ford ) i know nothing about modifying anything!!! If this is true can anyone enlighten me as to how to do this??? My car is a 93 legacy estate and it went very well until a little under bonnet fire!!

My understanding..
Firstly disconnect Cosworth from Ford..
Cosworth are a performance tuning company just mostly know due to there connection with Ford and they make pistons that fit into uprated Subaru engines..
So not pub talk.. well it is if you talk about it in the pub but true also..

Spidey man, the jolly green monster is right, I had an engine let go on me (melted pistons etc etc) and had a rebuild done at Autosportif (Oxford). They used Cosworth pistons and said they were a stronger item than the subaru ones and had more clearance in the bores. They also told me that they were more resistant to heat build up which is seen in the more highly tuned motors. Like you I haven't a feekin clue on this side of things and am just repeating what they told me. Apparently they are widely used in Scooby engine rebuilds. Hope this has been of some use.

I think the point that JGM is making, is that there is the company 'Cosworth' who make performance car parts (for many brands) which happens to have a strong association with Ford.
Yes there are Cosworth pistons manufactured/available/'recommended' for Subarus, but these are not the same pistons used for Ford cars, just made by the same company.

just to be more annoying, there is another company called cosworth technologies who I believe started with cosworth engineering but split later on.
They are now owned by the VAG group.
I believe the cosworth engineering is actually owned byt he ford group of companies but operate as a separate company with separate concerns.
